Engaging The False Mirror
The Front Room is a project series founded by Chief Curator Anthony Huberman at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. Presenting exhibitions and performances in a dedicated gallery as well as in various public spaces throughout the Museum, the Front Room operates on an accelerated schedule, with each installment lasting anywhere from several days to a month.
This ambitious series is designed for nimble and experimental programming, pushing the boundaries of what the museum exhibition can be. Since its inception in 2008, the Front Room has featured established and emerging artists from all over the world, including Fia Backström, Robert Breer, Claire Fontaine, Kerry James Marshall, Michael E. Smith, Tris Vonna-Michell, and many others.
Gilian was given the opportunity to curate this show in the Front Room in 2010 while they were living in the St. Louis community.
